I have bad fingernails.
I wish it weren’t true, but I do. They shred, they break. They're always uneven. My son, eleven years old and not yet into
personal grooming, has strong, fast-growing, perfect fingernails that would be the envy
of women everywhere. He didn't get them from me.
I have to keep telling myself that's not important. :)
I am a forty-something wife, mother of two precious gifts of
God (yes, even when they're fighting or otherwise driving me bananas), and part-time guardian to one other charming young lady.
I am a Christ-follower who just happens to have followed him to, well, near the ends of the earth. :) We
live at 5000' in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea (just north of Australia in the South
Pacific) where we support the ongoing and enormous task of Bible
translation. In PNG alone there are some
three hundred distinct and viable language groups who still do not have a single verse of God’s Word translated into the
language that speaks to their hearts. Most
of those languages do not even have written alphabets.
I am an introvert who can pretty successfully masquerade as
an extrovert. For a limited period of time. Then I hide behind a book, a computer, or a pillow for a few hours until the trembling stops.
I enjoyed lots of houseplants until our first child was born and my green thumb turned black. If we had not moved and given all the plants away, I am sure I would have managed to kill them all before she was a year old. I still can't keep plants in the house, and the ones on our covered porch would probably die if it weren't for the nearly constant 80% humidity.
I tend to be a “Jack of Many Trades” but master of very
few. I have dabbled in activities such
as woodworking, rubber stamp carving, acting, quilting, creative and technical writing, gardening, sign
language, teaching, sewing, home improvement, singing, photography, and engineering support for the then-conceptual Space Station's Environmental Control and Life Support Services (ECLSS). I also knock around on a drum set from time to time.
I grew up in Alabama, but most people say I don't sound like it. I love international travel and have navigated airports on five continents. South America is on my bucket list.
I enjoy Scrabble and card games such as cribbage, pinochle, Dominion, and hearts.
I’d rather wash dishes than cook, and fortunately my husband
finds cooking therapeutic.
I am currently the Vice Principal of the Primary Campus (pre-K through Grade
6) of our mission’s international school here in PNG.
I am a Faith-walker, Weakness-boaster, and Grace-receiver.
Welcome to A PEAS of my Life. I’d love to hear from you!

Wow, nice to meet you! This resonates with me, Sharon- "I am an introvert who can pretty successfully masquerade as an extrovert. For a limited period of time. Then I hide behind a book, a computer, or a pillow for a few hours until the trembling stops." I have to read the Why I chose your father post...next!
